我希望⋯該用 hope 還是 wish？一次搞懂希望之差！

I wish I can pass the exam tomorrow! 是我教學多年蠻常聽到的一句英文，但這句話其實有種你不想過的感覺 XD
wish 和 hope在英漢字典上都翻作「希望」（後者有時譯成「但願」），但用法大不相同。

Wish 是種「假設語氣」，代表你所想望的事情不會發生，與事實相反。

例如：
I wish I were as tall as Michael Jordan.（但願我和喬丹一樣高，但我並沒有。）
I wish I had bought that car!（當初買了那輛車就好了！）
沒買到車怨念有點強，所以此處可以用 how 加強語氣：How I wish I had bought that car! 或代換成 if only：If only I had bought that car!

那我希望考試會過，到底怎麼說？其實改用 hope 就可以了。

Hope 代表對未發生事件的期待。

例如：
I hope / Hope (that) I can do well on the exam!
I hope to hear from you soon!（希望盡快聽到您的回音）。
